Best Amazon for Croatia

There is no amazon.hr. Every Amazon order you place from Croatia comes from another country’s store, usually Germany, sometimes Italy or elsewhere. Since 2023 most of those stores price in the same currency you earn in. Compare item prices across stores on Haggl, then check delivery to Croatia and the final total on Amazon.

Use Haggl to compare EU Amazon prices before checking out.

Buying cross-border is the only option

Shoppers in some EU countries can choose between a local Amazon store and a foreign one. In Croatia there is nothing to choose. Amazon has no Croatian store, so every order is placed on a foreign site and travels across at least one border. That changes the question you start with. You are not asking whether to leave your home store. You are asking which foreign store sells the product for less and will actually send it to Croatia.

The second half of that question matters more than many people expect. A product page can show a good price and still refuse a Croatian address. Amazon Germany’s own help pages say that some categories, including electronics, toys, shoes and garden products, cannot always be shipped abroad. When one store will not send an item, another store, or a different seller on the same store, often will.

Amazon Germany: the default for most Croatian buyers

Most Croatian shopping guides point to amazon.de first. The reasons are practical. It has a very large catalogue, the site can be switched to English, and orders stay inside the EU, so there is no customs paperwork. Before Croatia joined the euro, a German order also meant a currency conversion. Today it does not.

Default does not mean cheapest. The same espresso machine or cordless drill can be listed by different sellers at different prices on each store, and the gap moves from week to week.

Italy across the Adriatic, and the other EU stores

Amazon Italy is the usual second opinion. Some Croatian guides suggest it can be quicker for parts of the country, though we could not confirm that, so go by the delivery date Amazon shows for your postcode. Our Germany vs Italy comparison explains how the two stores differ.

Beyond those two, Haggl also compares France, Spain, Poland, Belgium and Ireland. Each one is worth checking on a bigger purchase, especially when amazon.de will not deliver the item to Croatia. Ireland is useful if you would rather read listings in English. Amazon UK is the odd one out. It is outside the EU, so import VAT and customs apply. Our Croatia delivery guide explains what that adds.

The euro makes comparing simpler

Croatia replaced the kuna with the euro on 1 January 2023, at a fixed rate of 7.53450 kuna to the euro. For Amazon shoppers that removed a whole step. A price on amazon.de, amazon.it or amazon.es is now in the same currency as your salary and as prices in Croatian shops, so you can compare them directly. The only stores where a conversion still happens are the UK, priced in pounds, and Poland, which normally prices in złoty.

Before you order: keyboards, plugs and manuals

  • Laptops and keyboards. The standard Croatian layout is QWERTZ, with Y and Z in the same places as on a German keyboard, so a laptop from amazon.de feels familiar. What it lacks are dedicated keys for Č, Ć, Đ, Š and Ž. You can still type them by switching the keyboard layout in your operating system. Apple’s Croatian layout is QWERTY, which is different again.
  • Plugs. Croatia uses 230V sockets of types C and F, the same round-pin plugs used in Germany, Italy, France and Spain. UK products have three-pin plugs and need an adapter.
  • Manuals and packaging. Expect them in the language of the store’s country, sometimes alongside others. Check the listing if a Croatian or English manual matters to you.

Using Haggl when you live in Croatia

Haggl’s Ship to list does not include Croatia yet, and Haggl compares item prices only, not delivery. So use it for the first step: finding which stores list your product and at what price.

  1. Search the exact model or product code on Haggl.
  2. Note the two or three stores with the lowest item price.
  3. Open each one, set your Croatian delivery address and check that the item can be sent to Croatia.
  4. Compare delivery charges and final totals at checkout, then order from the store that comes out best.

Croatia’s situation is closest to Malta’s: no local store, and delivery is often the deciding factor. Our Malta shopping guide and Malta delivery guide look at the same problem from another Mediterranean country.

Frequently asked questions

No. Amazon has not opened a Croatian store and has not announced one. Shoppers in Croatia order from Amazon stores in other countries, most often amazon.de, and have the parcel delivered to a Croatian address.
