Best Amazon for Sweden
Sweden has had its own Amazon store since October 2020, but amazon.se is not the only place Swedish shoppers buy from. For bigger purchases it can pay to look at Germany and other EU stores too. Compare item prices on Haggl, including amazon.se in kronor, then confirm delivery and the final total at Amazon's checkout.
Use Haggl to compare EU Amazon prices before checking out.
When amazon.se opened in October 2020, Amazon said Swedish customers could choose from more than 150 million products. That changed the routine for a lot of households. Before the launch, buying from Amazon in Sweden meant ordering from the German or UK store and paying international delivery. Today most everyday orders can stay on the Swedish site, in kronor, with Swedish customer service.
That does not mean the Swedish store always wins. The same model can be listed by different sellers on each Amazon store, at different prices, and sometimes only one store has it in stock. For a book or a phone case the difference rarely matters. For a robot vacuum, a camera or a laptop it can be worth five minutes of checking.
When amazon.se is the sensible choice
- Small orders. At launch, amazon.se offered free delivery on eligible orders fulfilled by Amazon above SEK 229. Check the current threshold on amazon.se, but small baskets are where paying cross-border delivery hurts most.
- Swedish-language products. Swedish books, board games and toys with Swedish instructions are easier to find on the local store.
- Laptops and keyboards. If you want Å, Ä and Ö printed on the keys, look for a Swedish or Nordic layout. Laptops sold on amazon.de normally have a German QWERTZ layout, where Y and Z swap places.
- You already pay for Prime in Sweden. Prime in Sweden is bought on amazon.se. Do not assume it gives you free delivery on another country’s Amazon store. Check the delivery charge on each order.
When other EU stores are worth a look
Larger purchases are where comparing pays off. The model you want may be missing on amazon.se, sold only by a third-party seller, or simply cheaper elsewhere this week. These are the stores Haggl compares and that Swedish shoppers can check:
- Amazon Germany: the store many Swedes used before amazon.se existed, and still the usual first comparison
- Amazon France, Italy and Spain: worth checking during their own national promotions
- Amazon Netherlands, Poland and Belgium: smaller stores, but occasionally lower on individual products
- Amazon Ireland: an English-language euro store, useful if you prefer English listings to German ones
- Amazon UK: outside the EU since Brexit, so import VAT and customs rules apply. Read our delivery guide before ordering
Big sales are a good moment to check. A discount on one Amazon store is not always matched on the others, and amazon.se may have a different deal on the same day. Our Black Friday guide explains how to compare sale prices across stores.

Kronor against euros
Sweden does not use the euro, so every cross-border comparison involves a conversion. Haggl shows euro stores in euros, the UK store in pounds and amazon.se in kronor. Convert at today’s rate before you compare, and remember that the rate you actually pay depends on how you pay. Amazon may offer to charge you in kronor at its own rate, or your bank converts a euro payment at its rate, sometimes with a card fee. Look at both at checkout.
A product question, not just a price question
Plugs are rarely a problem. Swedish sockets take the same plugs as German ones, so appliances from the euro-area stores generally work without an adapter, while UK products need one. Check two other things before you buy: the language of the manual, and whether the manufacturer’s own warranty covers a product bought in another country. The listing or the brand’s website usually says.
How to compare from Sweden with Haggl
- Search the exact model on Haggl. A model number such as a specific vacuum or lens code beats a general description.
- Compare the item prices Haggl shows for amazon.se in kronor, the other EU stores and the UK. Haggl compares item prices only, not delivery.
- On the store that looks best, enter your Swedish address and check whether it delivers, what delivery costs and what the final total is.
- Compare that final total with amazon.se before you pay.
The total at checkout on another store can differ from the price on its product page once your Swedish address is entered. Our Amazon delivery to Sweden guide explains why, along with customs on UK orders and returns. For the Swedish store itself, see our Amazon Sweden page. Shoppers in Malta, who have no local Amazon store at all, face a different trade-off, covered in our Malta shopping guide and Malta delivery guide.
