Cheapest Country for Smartphones in Europe
Smartphones are one of the easiest products to compare across European Amazon stores: the same model, the same storage and the same colour often list at different prices on Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the other stores on the same day. No country always wins, so match the exact model and compare before you buy.
Use Haggl to compare EU Amazon prices before checking out.
A new phone is one of the most expensive things most people buy on Amazon, and it is also one of the easiest to compare. Unlike clothes or furniture, a phone model is identical wherever it is sold in Europe, so a lower price on another store is often a real saving. The catch is making sure you are comparing exactly the same thing.
Match the exact model
Phone listings vary in small but important ways. The same model family comes in several storage sizes, colours and sometimes regional variants, and each one is a separate listing with its own price. Search the full model name, including storage, on Haggl before you compare stores.
Check these match
- Model & generation
- Storage size
- Colour
- European version
- New vs Renewed
What drives phone price gaps
- Sellers: the cheapest offer may come from a third-party seller rather than Amazon itself. Check who sells and ships it
- Stock: one store clearing older stock after a new model launches
- Promotions: national sales and Prime Day deals are not always matched on other stores
- Currency: the UK store prices in pounds and amazon.se in kronor, so convert before comparing
- Renewed listings: a much lower price may be a refurbished phone. Read the condition and warranty carefully
Country tendencies (not guarantees)
Germany usually has the widest range of models and sellers, so it is the natural first comparison. France, Italy and Spain can undercut it on specific models during their own promotions. The UK can look cheaper, but import VAT and handling fees for EU addresses often cancel the difference. Shoppers in Malta, which has no local Amazon store, should check which stores actually deliver phones to their address, as our Malta delivery guide explains.
Chargers, plugs and labels
Since 28 December 2024, new phones sold in the EU must use a USB-C charging port, so cables are interchangeable across EU stores. Many phones no longer come with a charger in the box, so check what is included. If a charger is included with a UK phone, it will have a UK plug and need an adapter elsewhere in Europe.
Renewed and second-hand phones
Amazon Renewed and seller-refurbished phones can be far cheaper than new ones. Before buying, check the stated battery condition, the warranty length and the return window. A saving is only worth it if returns are straightforward from your country.
Recommended workflow
- Copy the exact model name and storage size.
- Search on Haggl and compare every store.
- Check that the cheapest listing is new, European and sold by a seller you trust.
- Enter your address on that store and confirm it delivers.
- Compare the final checkout total before paying.
